IELTS Requirement for Poland Universities: Minimum Score

Typical minimum: 5.5 overall (CEFR B2) as the national legal floor; several universities set their own higher bar of 6.0 to 6.5, and medicine commonly asks for C1 (6.5 to 7.0).

IELTS 5.5 is not merely a university convention: it is set in Annex 2 of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education's regulation of 30 July 2025 on documents certifying language proficiency for a non-EU applicant to any Polish higher education institution (Journal of Laws 2025, item 1045, in force from 1 August 2025), which Nicolaus Copernicus University's own admissions page links directly as its source. Of the 12 universities researched for content/inbox/universities-pl.json, University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, AGH University of Krakow, Adam Mickiewicz University, University of Wroclaw, Gdansk University of Technology, Nicolaus Copernicus University and Medical University of Gdansk all publish exactly this 5.5 floor; Warsaw University of Technology and Lodz University of Technology set their own higher institutional minimum of 6.0.
