CGPA to GPA converter

A rough conversion to the 4.0 scale. Universities do their own conversion, and many ask for your original transcript and a credential evaluation instead, so treat this as orientation, not an official figure.

How this works

The linear figure divides your grade by the maximum of your scale and multiplies by four. That is the simplest conversion and the one most online tools use. It is also the least accurate, because grading cultures differ: a 75 percent in the UK or India is a strong result, while a 75 percent in the United States is a C.

Credential evaluators such as WES or ECE map grades to a US letter scale using country specific tables rather than a straight line. Many universities in the United States and Canada require one of those evaluations and ignore self reported conversions. German universities use the modified Bavarian formula through uni-assist. UK universities usually publish country specific entry requirements in your own scale, so no conversion is needed.

What to do with the number

  • Check the university's own international entry requirements page first; most list the minimum in your country's scale.
  • If a programme asks for a 3.0 on the 4.0 scale, treat the linear figure as a first filter only.
  • Order a credential evaluation early if the university names one; it can take several weeks.
