Admission at a glance
Uppsala University admits bachelor's and master's students through universityadmissions.se, the national portal used by every Swedish university. Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland apply in the international round for autumn entry, which opens 16 October 2026 and closes 15 January 2027, with supporting documents and the SEK 900 application fee due 1 February 2027. Results are published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes and 8 April 2027 for bachelor's programmes. Uppsala's own pages confirm that the application fee is paid to University Admissions rather than to Uppsala directly.
Uppsala states its tuition fees more directly than several of the other large Swedish universities: both its bachelor's and master's fees pages state that, depending on the programme, one semester of full-time study costs between SEK 49,500 and SEK 90,000. This is a per-semester figure covering both degree levels; the exact fee for a specific programme is confirmed on that programme's own page, and the university notes that a few collaborative programmes can cost more.
Uppsala teaches a large number of English taught master's programmes across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, technology and law, plus a smaller number of English taught bachelor's programmes. Admission is based on documented academic merit against the requirements set for each programme. Non-EU/EEA students who accept an offer pay their first tuition installment ahead of the semester, then apply for a residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket.
