Admission at a glance

Umea University admits bachelor's and master's students through universityadmissions.se, the national portal used across Sweden. Its own key dates page confirms the international round for autumn 2027 entry opens 16 October 2026 and closes 15 January 2027, with supporting documents due 1 February 2027. Master's programme results are published 30 March 2027 and bachelor's results 6 April 2027, both stated directly on Umea's own page, with the Master's Programme in Fine Arts carrying an earlier deadline of 1 March 2027. The semester begins 30 August 2027.

Umea's own tuition fees page states that annual tuition rates for non-EU/EEA students range from SEK 96,600 to SEK 395,700 a year depending on the field of study, covering both bachelor's and master's level programs. The application fee is confirmed at SEK 900 through the national admissions rules, since Umea's own tuition page describes an application fee without repeating the amount.

Selection is based on documented academic merit against the requirements each program publishes. Once admitted, a fee paying student pays one application fee per semester applied for and, after acceptance, the first tuition installment before enrollment, then applies for a residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket.
