Admission at a glance

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences admits bachelor's and master's students through universityadmissions.se, the national portal used by every Swedish university. Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland apply in the international round for autumn entry, which opens 16 October 2026 and closes 15 January 2027, with supporting documents due 1 February 2027 and results published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes. SLU's own entry requirements page confirms the SEK 900 application fee directly, stating that it must be received by University Admissions by the application fee deadline.

SLU teaches a range of English taught master's programmes in forestry, animal science, landscape architecture, agricultural economics, environmental science and related fields, with admission based on a bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits plus subject specific prerequisites set by each programme. Its own tuition fees page explains that fees are based on full time study at 30 credits per semester and mentions a SEK 5,000 charge on refunds from the 2026 autumn semester, but it does not state a university wide minimum or maximum tuition figure, directing applicants to each programme's own page instead. Four two year master's programme pages checked directly in September 2026 range from SEK 284,000 total for the Agricultural Economics and Management MSc and the Environmental Economics and Management MSc to SEK 444,000 total for the Landscape Architecture MSc, with the Forest Ecology and Sustainable Management MSc at SEK 344,000.

Admitted non-EU/EEA students pay tuition to SLU, then apply for a residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket. Requirements

Bachelor

SLU offers very few programmes taught in English at bachelor's level; a completed upper secondary education equivalent to Swedish gymnasium is required where one is offered, with subject specific prerequisites set by the programme. English proficiency equivalent to English 6.

Master

A bachelor's degree, normally at least 180 ECTS credits, with subject specific prerequisites set by each programme, commonly 60 to 90 credits of specialization in a related field. English proficiency equivalent to English 6, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, or TOEFL iBT total 90.
