UiT The Arctic University of Norway Admission 2027

UiT The Arctic University of Norway, in Tromsø, is the world's northernmost university and teaches more than twenty master's programmes in English. From August 2026 it cut its tuition for non-EU students to NOK 100,500 a year for humanities and social sciences and NOK 150,500 for science and technology, well below other Norwegian universities, but its deadline for non-EU applicants is 15 November, two weeks earlier than most of Norway.

Admission at a glance

UiT runs separate windows by citizenship. Applicants from outside the EU and EEA use a portal that opens on 15 October and closes on 15 November, for studies starting the following autumn, which is two weeks earlier than the 1 December used by NTNU, Bergen and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. EU, EEA and Swiss applicants apply from 1 February to 1 March. Two master's programmes, Fine Arts and Landscape Architecture, use 1 March for everyone. All documents, including the English test, must be uploaded by the deadline, because the document deadline is the same as the application deadline. Non-EU applicants who applied by 15 November receive results by the end of February. After accepting an offer, a non-EU student receives an invoice for the year's tuition, which includes the semester fee, and must pay it in full before the academic year; there are no instalments. UiT is strict about how the money moves under Norway's anti-money laundering rules: the fee must be paid by the student from their own bank account, a sponsor must first transfer the money to the student, and a company or organisation cannot pay it. Registering the payment can take up to three weeks, and the confirmation is what the student uses when applying for a residence permit.
