UiT introduced new, lower tuition fees from August 2026, applying to both new and existing students outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, in three categories for all bachelor's and master's programmes. Category 1, humanities, social sciences and economic and administrative subjects, is NOK 100,500 a year; it covers master's programmes such as Psychology, Public Health, English Literature, Tourism Studies, and Peace and Conflict Transformation. Category 2, science, technology, health, sports, teacher education, performing arts and media, is NOK 150,500 a year; it covers Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Biology, Geosciences, Physics, Biomedicine and others. Category 3, Medicine, Dentistry and Aviation, is NOK 351,000 a year. The cut is large: until June 2026 the same humanities master's programmes cost NOK 185,400. The Master of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies has no tuition fee at all. Joint degrees in Environmental Law, Governance and Entrepreneurship in Northern and Indigenous Areas, Nordic Urban Planning and the Erasmus Mundus Human Rights master are exempt automatically. The semester fee of NOK 670 is included in the tuition invoice. Permanent residence in Norway or another Nordic country and some other close ties to Norway can qualify for exemption on application.
