Norwegian University of Science and Technology Admission 2027

NTNU is Norway's largest university, based in Trondheim with campuses in Gjovik and Alesund, and teaches more than 60 master's degrees in English. Students from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland have paid tuition since 2023, from NOK 176,300 a year for humanities and business up to NOK 528,650 for medicine, and NTNU states that it offers no scholarships that cover the fee.

Admission at a glance

NTNU admits to its English taught master's degrees once a year, and the deadline depends on citizenship rather than on the programme. An applicant from outside the EU and the EEA applies by 1 December for studies starting the following August. An applicant from the EU or the EEA has until 15 January. A Norwegian or Nordic citizen educated outside the Nordic countries applies by 1 March, and a Nordic applicant with Nordic schooling by 15 April. NTNU warns that individual programmes may set their own exemptions to these dates, so the programme page is worth reading alongside the general guide. Erasmus Mundus joint degrees at NTNU run on the individual programme's own timetable rather than the university's. Applications go through Soknadsweb, the Norwegian application system, and an English test result has to be uploaded there and, for TOEFL, also sent directly from ETS to NTNU using department code 9652. Tuition is the other thing to settle before applying, because NTNU says clearly that it has no scholarship covering it: an applicant either falls into an exemption category, holds an external full degree scholarship such as one from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, or pays.
