Tuition applies to students who are not citizens of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland, including those already living in Norway on a valid residence permit. For 2026/27 NTNU uses three price categories per academic year of 60 ECTS: NOK 176,300 for humanities, social sciences, economics, business and management; NOK 205,600 for natural sciences, technology, sport and health sciences, social sciences, educational sciences, performing arts and media studies; and NOK 528,650 for medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. Five programmes are priced separately: Childhood Studies and Global Relations and Sustainable Development at NOK 26,445 a year, International Business and Marketing and Management of Innovation and Sustainable Business Development at NOK 61,705, and Fine Art at NOK 30,840. Single courses are charged proportionally within the category of the programme they belong to, and the rates are adjusted every year. NTNU states that it offers no scholarships that cover tuition fees. Exemption without applying covers EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, exchange students from partner universities, anyone admitted before 2023, Erasmus Mundus and Nordic Five Tech joint degree students, doctoral students, and holders of a place through Students at Risk, NORPART, NORHED, NORSTIP, Fulbright or a full degree scholarship from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. Exemption on application covers permanent residence in Norway, residence granted for protection or humanitarian reasons, and marriage to or a child with a Norwegian citizen.
