Admission at a glance

The University of South-Eastern Norway admits applicants from outside the EU/EEA to English-taught programmes once a year, with an application period from 1 October to 15 November; the Smart Systems Integrated Solutions master's has other deadlines. Applicants for autumn 2027 therefore apply between 1 October and 15 November 2026. Applying is free of charge, and applications must be submitted personally, not through recruitment agencies. Master's applicants need IELTS Academic 6.0 with at least 6.0 in each component, TOEFL iBT 80 (or 4.5 for tests after 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 59 or a Cambridge First certificate grade B, unless they hold a degree taught in a listed English-speaking or Nordic country. Tuition for students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, for the year starting in August 2026, is NOK 60,000 a year for master's programmes in Digital Transformation, Human Rights and Multiculturalism, Innovation and Technology Management, Maritime Management and Sustainability Management, and NOK 90,000 a year for master's programmes in Computer Science, Electrical Power Engineering, Industrial IT and Automation and other technology fields. USN says fees for 2027/28 will rise slightly after the government budget and will be published by the end of October 2026. All students also pay a semester fee of NOK 885. No scholarships are available for most applicants, although applicants to Smart Systems Integrated Solutions may be eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
