Admission at a glance
Oulu admits international students through Finland's national joint application rather than its own system. The next round runs from 7 January 2027 to 21 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time, for studies beginning in autumn 2027, and covers every international bachelor's and master's programme at the university; the form is filled in at studyinfo.fi. One programme sits outside that: the Bachelor's degree programme in International Business Management runs a rolling admission from 1 October 2026 to 25 February 2027, also for an autumn 2027 start. Applicants who are not EU or EEA citizens pay an application fee, which is collected by the Finnish National Agency for Education as part of filling in the Studyinfo form rather than by the university. Two deadlines after the application matter as much as the application itself. Educational documents and proof of language skills have to be verified by the date on the university's deadlines page, and a place is cancelled if they are not. Tuition has its own three week window, because the early bird discount, which is worth between 15 and 30 per cent of the fee depending on the programme, is only available to students who pay within three weeks of the admission results being published. There are no scholarships for first year students at Oulu; tuition fee waivers covering 20 to 30 per cent of the fee begin in the second and third years of a bachelor's degree, and a master's waiver of 10 to 40 per cent of the second year's fee depends on completing at least 60 ECTS in the first year, including five credits of compulsory Finnish.
