University of Oulu Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Oulu sits a couple of hours' drive from the Arctic Circle and teaches more than twenty master's programmes and four bachelor's programmes in English. Tuition for the 2026-2027 intake runs from EUR 10,000 to EUR 14,000 a year depending on the programme, and every programme carries an early bird discount of 15 to 30 per cent for anyone who pays within three weeks of the results.

English test waiver

Oulu publishes a minimum for each accepted test and applies most of them section by section. IELTS Academic, including the online and UKVI academic versions, needs an overall 6.0 with at least 5.5 in every section, and Oulu accepts IELTS One Skill Retake. TOEFL iBT, including the Special Home Edition, needs an overall 4.0 with at least 3.5 in each section on the scale introduced on 21 January 2026, or an overall 78 for a test taken before that date. PTE Academic needs an overall 62 with at least 61 in writing. IELTS and TOEFL results are valid for two years from the test date. Proof of language skills has to be attached to the online application by the deadline, and it also has to survive the separate document verification step afterwards: a place is cancelled if the educational documents and the language proof are not verified by the date on the university's deadlines page. SAT and ACT results are accepted as an alternative route for some applicants.
