Cost of Studying in Finland (2027) for International Students

Finland charges tuition only to students from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, and only on English taught programmes, where fees run from about 8,000 to 20,000 euros a year. Applications go through the national Studyinfo portal, with the main international round for autumn 2027 entry open from 7 to 21 January 2027, though Aalto and the University of Helsinki run their own separate bachelor's admissions on different dates. Bachelor's admission is usually ranked on the SAT or ACT, or on a school leaving certificate.

Across the system the published range is about 8,000 to 20,000 euros a year, and where a university sits inside that range depends on the field more than on the city: business and technology bachelor's degrees cluster at 10,000 to 13,000 euros, art, architecture and design at the top, and master's degrees usually cost more than the bachelor's at the same university.

The University of Helsinki charges 13,000 euros a year for its English taught bachelor's programmes and 13,000, 15,000 or 18,000 for master's. Aalto charges 12,000 for bachelor's in business and technology and 15,000 in art and architecture, and 15,000 to 20,000 at master's. Tampere charges 10,000 for every bachelor's programme and 12,000 for every master's. Turku sets 10,000 or 12,000 per programme. The University of Oulu prices per programme from 10,000 to 14,000 for the 2026-2027 intake.

Scholarships are the university's own; Finland has no government scholarship for degree students, whatever social media says. Most are tuition fee waivers of 50 to 100 percent decided on the admission score, and many universities add an early bird discount of about 2,000 euros, or a percentage cut, for a student who accepts the offer and pays within a few weeks of the result. Oulu's early bird runs at 15 to 30 percent depending on the programme.

Two smaller charges recur every year. The student union fee is about 50 to 70 euros a year at a university, and the student healthcare fee that gives access to the Finnish Student Health Service is about 35 euros a term. Neither is covered by a tuition waiver.
