University of Helsinki Admission 2027 for International Students

Admission at a glance

The University of Helsinki offers two bachelor's programmes taught in English, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Science, and admits to them through two separate processes with two different application windows rather than through a single national round. For studies starting in autumn 2027 the windows are 5 to 19 January 2027 for Admission group 1 and 9 to 23 March 2027 for Admission group 2. An applicant cannot choose which window to use and cannot apply in both: previous education decides the group. Admission group 1 is ranked on the combined score of two SAT or ACT tests, so an applicant in that group has to book the tests months ahead and make sure the results reach the university in time. Admission group 2 is ranked on a matriculation examination or an equivalent school leaving certificate, and the certificate itself has a later deadline of its own. Both applications are submitted on the Finnish national portal Studyinfo, where the form appears only while the window is open and closes at 15.00 Finnish time on the last day. The university updates the detailed admission criteria for the January round by the end of October. English has to be proved separately with an accepted test or qualification; a statement from a language teacher or a university's own internal test is not accepted, and scores from different test dates cannot be combined.
