Semmelweis admits international students through its own online system, SEMAPHOR, rather than a central one, and applications for the 2026 cycle opened on 12 January with different closing dates by programme: 31 May for General Medicine and Dentistry, 21 June for Pharmaceutical Sciences and 31 July for the Nursing BSc. Admission turns on an entrance examination. For the medical, dental and pharmacy degrees it covers biology, chemistry, English and Biomedical English; for Nursing and the other Faculty of Health Sciences programmes it is an oral orientation examination on the field of study. An applicant is preferably under thirty at the time of application and must be at least eighteen by the end of the spring semester of the first year. A candidate still in the final year of secondary school may apply and sit the entrance examination, with the matriculation certificate uploaded by 21 August of the application year. The required file is a school leaving certificate with its registration number shown, a CV and a personal statement in English, a passport copy, a portrait photograph and, for anyone under eighteen at application, a legal declaration from a parent or guardian issued within the previous thirty days. A medical certificate confirming fitness to study, issued within ninety days, is uploaded when accepting an offer rather than at application. Three payments sit outside tuition: a USD 400 admission procedure fee at application, a non-refundable USD 2,000 deposit within fourteen days of the admission notice which is then deducted from the first semester's tuition, and a USD 230 enrolment fee paid with the tuition after acceptance. Making a false statement at any stage can exclude an applicant from the procedure.
