Admission at a glance

BME admits fee-paying international students once a year for a September start, and the window is short: for 2026/27 applications for preparatory, bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes ran from 1 April to 15 May 2026, and doctoral programmes may set their own dates. Applications are made on the e-admission portal at e-admission.bme.hu: create an account, fill in the form, upload the documents including proof of English, upload the receipt for the EUR 150 application fee, and submit. Selection includes an electronic entrance examination or placement test, and for bachelor's programmes the entrance exam is a formal part of selection, with practice tests on the portal. Preparatory programmes need no admission test. Transfer applicants have their previous study assessed by the faculty, which decides whether a test is needed. Faculties can add their own criteria, such as a specific academic background, an oral examination or higher language scores, so an applicant should read the programme page before applying. Not every programme runs a spring intake. Students can study as self-funded applicants or on a scholarship, including Hungary's Stipendium Hungaricum, and admitted students are supported by BME's International Mentor Team with paperwork such as the health insurance card and finding accommodation.
