Lund University Admission 2027: Deadlines, Fees, Requirements

Admission at a glance

Lund University takes bachelor's and master's applications through the shared national portal at universityadmissions.se, the same system used by every other Swedish university. Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland apply in the international round for autumn entry, which opens 16 October 2026 and closes 15 January 2027, with supporting documents and the SEK 900 application fee due 1 February 2027. Results are published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes and 8 April 2027 for bachelor's programmes. Lund's own admissions pages confirm this timeline and do not run a separate deadline for international applicants.

Lund teaches a large number of English taught master's programs across every faculty, plus a smaller set of English taught bachelor's programs, mostly in engineering and the social sciences. Selection is based on documented academic merit, with the exact prerequisites set by each program and published on its own page.

Lund's own tuition fees page confirms that non-EU/EEA students pay tuition, billed once per semester, with payment due 20 May for the autumn semester, but it directs the reader to each program's individual page for the exact amount rather than publishing one university wide figure. Five master's programme pages checked directly in September 2026, across four faculties, range from SEK 160,000 total for the one year Finance MSc at the School of Economics and Management to SEK 370,000 total for the two year Physics, Quantum Science and Technology MSc and the two year Sustainable Energy Engineering MSc, with the two year European Affairs MSc and Welfare Policies and Management MSc, both Faculty of Social Sciences, at SEK 270,000 each.

Lund runs its own Global Scholarship for admitted fee paying students, awarded automatically at the same time as admission and based on academic merit, on top of the Swedish Institute scholarships that some applicants apply for separately. A residence permit for studies, applied for through Migrationsverket, is needed once tuition is paid or a scholarship is confirmed.

Requirements

Bachelor

A completed upper secondary education equivalent to Swedish gymnasium, plus any subject specific prerequisites listed on the individual program page. English proficiency equivalent to English 6.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent, normally at least 180 ECTS credits, in a relevant field, plus any program specific prerequisites. English proficiency equivalent to English 6, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no section below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT total 90 with at least 20 in writing.
