Lund University Admission Requirements 2027

Lund University is Sweden's largest and one of its oldest universities, teaching across nearly every field from a historic campus in the town of Lund, near Malmo in the south. It offers a wide range of English taught bachelor's and master's programs and applies through the national admissions system used by every Swedish university.

Requirements

Bachelor

A completed upper secondary education equivalent to Swedish gymnasium, plus any subject specific prerequisites listed on the individual program page. English proficiency equivalent to English 6.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent, normally at least 180 ECTS credits, in a relevant field, plus any program specific prerequisites. English proficiency equivalent to English 6, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no section below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT total 90 with at least 20 in writing.

Documents

Passport copy, secondary school or degree transcripts and certificates, proof of English proficiency, and, for applicants who are not EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, proof of application fee payment or a document showing exemption. Some programs ask for a CV, a personal letter or a portfolio. All documents are uploaded to universityadmissions.se, not sent to Lund directly.

How to apply

Check the entry requirements for the chosen program on Lund University's own pages.
Create an account and apply through the national portal at universityadmissions.se before the 15 January 2027 deadline for autumn entry; this is the only way to apply, Lund does not run its own application system.
Pay the SEK 900 national application fee, if required, and upload supporting documents by 1 February 2027.
Check the selection results on the portal, published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes and 8 April 2027 for bachelor's programmes.
Accept the offer on the portal and, if a fee paying student, pay the first tuition installment to Lund by 20 May.
Apply for a Swedish residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket once tuition is paid or a scholarship is confirmed.

English test waiver

Lund follows the national English 6 standard set for every Swedish university: applicants who completed upper secondary or prior higher education taught in English, including the Swedish gymnasium course English 6, are generally exempt from an English test. universityadmissions.se assesses this for every applicant regardless of which Swedish university they apply to.
