Admission at a glance

Linkoping University admits bachelor's and master's students through universityadmissions.se, the national portal used by every Swedish university. Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland use the international round for autumn entry, opening 16 October 2026 and closing 15 January 2027, with documents due 1 February 2027 and results published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes.

Linkoping's own page on application and tuition fees confirms that non-EU/EEA students pay tuition billed once per semester based on credits taken, but the page states that the exact fee for a specific program is found on that program's own page or on universityadmissions.se rather than giving one university wide figure. Five programme pages checked directly in September 2026 range from SEK 109,600 total for the 60 credit Adult Learning and Global Change master's to SEK 332,000 total for the 120 credit Computer Science MSc, with the Statistics and Machine Learning MSc at SEK 328,600 and the International and European Relations MSc and the Business Administration MSc in Strategy and Management in International Organisations at SEK 214,800 each. A separate FAQ page gives only a rough EUR 10,000 to EUR 20,000 per year approximation for an international audience, not a SEK figure, so it is not used alongside these directly confirmed programme figures.

Linkoping teaches English taught master's programs across engineering, computer science, business and a smaller number of other fields, with admission based on documented academic merit against each program's own requirements. Once admitted, a non-EU/EEA student with an offer from the end of March has a tuition payment deadline of 15 May, while offers made in July or later carry a 10 day payment deadline; the university's own pages confirm both figures, along with semester 2 and semester 4 payment deadlines of 15 December and a semester 3 deadline of 1 August for students continuing a program. After tuition is paid, students apply for a residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket.

Requirements

Bachelor

A completed upper secondary education equivalent to Swedish gymnasium, with subject specific prerequisites set by each program. English proficiency equivalent to English 6.

Master

A bachelor's degree, normally at least 180 ECTS credits, in a relevant field, with prerequisites set by each program. English proficiency equivalent to English 6, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no section below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT total 90 with at least 20 in writing.
