Admission at a glance

The IT University of Copenhagen is a small, specialist public university focused on computer science, data science, games, digital design and IT related business programmes, with most of its intake at master's level. Its MSc application portal opens mid January and closes 1 March for a study start in late August; a smaller BSc portfolio uses the national optagelse.dk portal, with non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants required to have documentation ready by 15 March at noon, the same date used across Denmark.

Applicants who are not citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, and who do not hold a qualifying Danish residence permit, pay a EUR 150 (about DKK 1,125) application fee that covers every MSc programme applied for in the same round, and, if admitted, tuition of EUR 8,250 a semester, paid twice a year in advance. BSc non-European applicants pay the same EUR 150 application fee and the same EUR 8,250 a semester tuition rate, for a total of about EUR 49,500 across the three year bachelor's degree. All applicants must show English qualifications equivalent to Danish upper secondary English B level with a minimum grade point average of 3.0; ITU's own documentation confirms this can be shown with an IELTS Academic score of at least 6.5 or a TOEFL score of at least 88 on the iBT scale (560 on the older paper based scale), with Cambridge CPE and CAE certificates accepted without the usual two year validity limit.

Requirements

Bachelor

A foreign qualifying exam and, for non-European applicants, English qualifications equivalent to English B level. ITU's BSc portfolio is small and technology focused; check the specific programme page for subject prerequisites.

Master

A university or professional bachelor's degree relevant to the programme. English qualifications equivalent to English B level with a minimum grade point average of 3.0: an IELTS Academic score of at least 6.5, or a TOEFL score of at least 88 on the iBT scale (560 paper based, 225 computer based). Two programmes, Digital Innovation & Management and Digital Design and Interactive Technologies, also require Danish at A level. A statement of purpose using the programme specific template is required for every MSc application.
