Admission at a glance
Aarhus School of Architecture is one of Denmark's two state schools of architecture and, unlike the other institutions in this batch, is not an academy of applied sciences: its degrees sit alongside university level qualifications. International full-degree admission is offered only at master's level, a two-year Master of Arts in Architecture (Kandidatuddannelsen, cand.arch.) taught in English; the school's bachelor's programme is taught in Danish and is not open to this admission route. Entry requires an existing Bachelor of Architecture or an equivalent recognised degree, so applicants have already completed an architecture bachelor's elsewhere before starting here. The programme is RIBA part 2 validated and, on completion, qualifies a graduate for membership of the Danish Architects' Association.
Applications for the September intake close on 1 February of the same year; short-listed candidates are told in week 8 and admission decisions follow in week 15. Admitted non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss applicants pay EUR 18,000 for the 2026/2027 academic year (two semesters); applicants with a permanent residence permit in an EU, EEA or Nordic country are exempt. Tuition and the required English test result are both due by 1 June, and international students must attend orientation on 29 August before teaching begins on 1 September. Because it is a government financed school, Aarhus School of Architecture states it cannot offer its own scholarships to fee paying students.
English proficiency is met with an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of at least 91, a Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency certificate, or a bachelor's degree already completed in English.
