Admission at a glance
Aarhus University is Denmark's second largest university, with campuses across Jutland including its main site in Aarhus, and it takes part in the national optagelse.dk system for bachelor's programmes while running its own application round for master's programmes. Non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss bachelor applicants apply through optagelse.dk by 15 March at noon, the same national deadline used across Denmark; master's applicants in the same citizenship group apply directly to Aarhus University by 15 January for a September start, ahead of EU/EEA/Swiss applicants and holders of a qualifying Danish residence permit, who have until 1 March.
Non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants pay an application fee of EUR 150 (about DKK 1,125), which covers up to three applications to Aarhus University in the same round and is deducted from tuition if the applicant enrols. Tuition for non-EU/EEA/Swiss students is set by programme: confirmed figures for this record range from about EUR 13,000 a year for programmes such as some humanities and social science degrees, up to about EUR 17,300 a year for the most expensive science, technology and business programmes, billed once or twice a year. Aarhus University asks for English proficiency at the standard Danish upper secondary English B level, shown as an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 83, with exemptions for applicants who completed a prior degree taught fully in English in a small set of recognised countries.
