Admission at a glance
The University of Southern Denmark, based in Odense with additional campuses across southern and central Denmark, takes bachelor's applications through the national optagelse.dk portal and runs its own application round for master's programmes. Non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss bachelor applicants must have their application fee paid and documentation ready by 15 March at noon; fee paying master's applicants in the same group apply by 1 February for a September start, or by 1 September for the smaller February start, both well ahead of EU/EEA/Swiss applicants.
Non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants pay a EUR 200 application deposit, required before SDU processes the application and charged once per applicant per enrolment year regardless of how many programmes are applied for. Tuition is set by faculty rather than published as one university wide figure: confirmed rates for this record run from EUR 10,800 a year at the Faculty of Humanities up to EUR 17,300 a year at the Faculties of Science and Engineering, with Business and Social Sciences and Health Sciences both at EUR 15,000 a year; from the September 2026 intake, SDU bills the full first year in advance rather than splitting it by semester. English proficiency for English taught master's programmes is set at IELTS Academic 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 88; English taught bachelor's programmes at English B level ask for the same IELTS 6.5 (no section below 6.5) or TOEFL iBT 100, with a higher English A level (IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 100) for a smaller number of programmes.
