Admission at a glance

IIT Bombay admits foreign nationals to its undergraduate programmes once a year through the JEE Advanced examination only; the DASA scheme does not cover IITs. Master's admission for international students is offered once a year and PhD admission twice a year. For the Autumn semester (July intake), master's and PhD applications are accepted online from the first week of January to the middle of April, and the deadline table on the same page gives 1 January to 31 March for M.Tech., MBA, M.Des. and PhD. For the Spring semester (January intake), PhD applications run from the first week of August to the middle of November, with the table giving 1 September to 31 October. Applications go through the institute's international admission portal or the ICCR and Study in India portals. Self-financed applicants must submit a bank statement showing at least US$10,000 for a two-year postgraduate programme or US$20,000 for a PhD. Proof of English can be a medium-of-instruction letter, a proficiency document or an English test. The application fee is not published, and dates for 2027 entry have not yet been announced.
