Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Admission Requirements 2027

IIT Bombay, established in 1958 in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, had 13,366 students in 2025-26, including 6,227 undergraduates and 3,620 PhD scholars. Foreign nationals pay tuition of Rs 3,00,000 a semester for undergraduate study in 2026-27. For master's study the rate is Rs 1,70,000 a semester, or Rs 85,000 for students from SAARC countries including Bangladesh.

For master's and PhD admission, IIT Bombay asks international applicants for proof of English in one of three forms: a note on the mark sheets or a letter from the home university stating that the medium of instruction was English; a document from the university, an English language instructor or a national agency showing a level of English suitable for tertiary education; or a pass in an English test. The page does not name minimum IELTS or TOEFL scores.
