Admission at a glance
HKUST's International Qualifications pathway is aimed at applicants with A-Levels, IB, or equivalent school-leaving results. For September 2027 entry, the priority round closed 25 November 2026, with applications then accepted on a rolling basis through to a final deadline of 30 June 2027. The application fee is HK$600, payable online by Visa or Mastercard. English proficiency requires IELTS Academic at an overall band of 6.0, or TOEFL iBT at 80 for tests before 21 January 2026 (an overall 4.5 on the rescaled system from that date); the test is waived for applicants whose qualification itself demonstrates English proficiency, such as IB English or GCE English. HKUST publishes its non-local tuition fee a full year ahead: HK$260,000 a year for students entering in the 2027/28 academic year, payable in two equal instalments before the Fall and Spring terms. HKUST is known internationally for engineering, science and business, and applicants are admitted directly into a school rather than the university as a whole. A Hong Kong student visa is applied for separately through the Immigration Department once an offer is accepted.
