Requirements
Bachelor
An approved secondary qualification (A-Levels, IB, or an equivalent national school-leaving certificate) meeting the general admissions requirements and the specific school or programme's requirements.
Master
A recognised bachelor's degree meeting the entry criteria of the specific graduate programme; requirements are published separately by HKUST's graduate school and individual schools.
Documents
Academic transcripts and certificates, English test score report unless exempted by the qualification itself, a valid travel document, and any programme-specific supporting documents such as a personal statement.
How to apply
- Confirm your qualification is covered by the International Qualifications pathway.
- Submit the online application and pay the HK$600 application fee.
- Submit by the priority round deadline for an earlier decision, or continue on the rolling basis up to the final deadline.
- Submit final results and any outstanding documents.
- Receive the admission decision and accept the offer.
- Apply for a Hong Kong student visa through the Immigration Department once accepted.
English test waiver
TOEFL iBT 80 applies to tests taken before 21 January 2026; tests from that date report on a rescaled system and HKUST's stated minimum becomes an overall 4.5. TOEFL and IELTS are not required if the applicant's qualification itself demonstrates English proficiency, such as IB English or GCE AS/A-Level English.
