Admission at a glance

The Education University of Hong Kong began as the territory's teacher-training college and now offers degrees across education, humanities, social sciences and creative arts, still with teacher education as its core mission. EdUHK operates a rolling admission process for the majority of its non-local undergraduate programmes rather than a single fixed deadline, and its admissions page advises applicants to submit as early as possible since places can fill before a nominal closing date is reached. The non-refundable application fee for non-local applicants is HK$300. Applicants should upload transcripts, certificates and English test results as part of the application; EdUHK's general non-local entry requirement is an IELTS Academic overall band of 6.0 or a TOEFL iBT score of 79, matching the floor used by several other UGC-funded universities, though individual programmes may set their own higher requirement. Tuition for non-local students in government-funded undergraduate programmes is HK$180,000 a year for the 2026/27 academic year. Because admission is rolling, EdUHK does not publish a single named closing date for each intake year the way HKU or CUHK do; a specific applicant should treat 'as early as possible' as the operative deadline. A Hong Kong student visa is applied for separately through the Immigration Department once an offer is accepted.
