Admission at a glance

The University of Trieste (UniTS) runs international admissions through the apply.units.it portal, with a EUR 40 non-refundable application fee that covers up to three programme choices in one application. For the 2026/2027 academic year the university opened three application rounds: an early round from 15 December 2025 to 15 January 2026, a main round from 15 February to 30 April 2026, and a final round open until 30 August 2026 for EU citizens and equivalent applicants only, since non-EU applicants needing a visa must apply within the first two rounds to leave time for visa processing. Non-EU students residing outside Italy who do not request an ISEE-based reduction are billed a flat, reduced-rate fee: an all-inclusive contribution of EUR 300 a year, separate from a EUR 160 regional tax for the right to university study and a EUR 16 stamp duty that every student pays. A 10 percent increase applies to students who do not meet the university's minimum credit progress requirements. The university distinguishes three applicant categories: EU citizens, non-EU citizens already resident in Italy, treated as EU-equivalent, and non-EU citizens living abroad who need a study visa, each following a different enrolment procedure described on the international students portal. English-language proficiency is required for programmes taught in English, generally at B2 level, but the specific test and score are set by each degree course rather than by the university as a whole, so applicants need to check their chosen programme's own admission page.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study in Italy.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification relevant to the chosen programme. Programmes taught in English generally expect B2-level proficiency, with the exact certificate and score set by the individual degree course.
