Admission at a glance

Universidad de Granada is a large public university with faculties across several campuses in the city of Granada, and it teaches mainly in Spanish. A non-EU applicant to a bachelor programme whose secondary school certificate comes from a country without an international access agreement with Spain must have that certificate homologated (formally recognised as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato) by Spain's Ministry of Education, or at minimum hold a receipt proving homologation has been requested, before applying; UGR's own admissions service also accepts UNEDasiss accreditation as the route that converts a foreign access score onto the Spanish fourteen-point scale, though UNEDasiss itself does not homologate a degree or certificate. Once the credential is in hand, admission runs through Distrito Unico Andaluz, the shared Andalusian public university admission system that all nine Andalusian public universities use rather than each running a fully separate process. For master's degrees, UGR's admissions service runs several application periods across the year, and a non-EHEA bachelor's degree is assessed by UGR for its equivalence to a Spanish degree rather than needing full homologation. Tuition is charged per ECTS credit under a price decree the Andalusian regional government issues, and Andalusia is one of the autonomous communities that keeps the same credit price for EU and non-EU students rather than charging international students a separate, higher rate, which is part of why Andalusian public universities are among the least expensive in Spain. For English-taught or English-component programmes, UGR's own accepted-certificate table, shared across Andalusian public universities, sets IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 as equivalent to CEFR B2.

Requirements

Bachelor

• Applicants from a country without an international access agreement with Spain: homologation of the secondary certificate by Spain's Ministry of Education (or a receipt showing it has been requested), plus a UNEDasiss accreditation converting the foreign access score to the Spanish scale.
• Apply through Distrito Unico Andaluz, the shared admission system for Andalusia's public universities.
• Programme-specific language requirements, generally B1 in a foreign language for Spanish-taught degrees under the Andalusian Council of Universities' agreement.

Master

• A bachelor's degree from an EHEA institution, or, for a non-EHEA degree, UGR's own assessment that it is equivalent to a Spanish degree.
• Programme-specific academic requirements set by the individual master's degree.
• For programmes with an English requirement, a certificate at CEFR B2 or higher; UGR's own table sets this at IELTS 5.5 to 6.5.
