Admission at a glance
Universidad Politecnica de Madrid brings together UPM's engineering, architecture and related schools across several campuses in Madrid, and almost all teaching is in Spanish. A non-EU applicant to a bachelor programme whose secondary schooling was completed outside Spain follows the same national route as at other Spanish public universities: UNEDasiss registration directly for EU, reciprocal-agreement or IB/EB applicants, or Ministry of Education homologacion of the secondary certificate first for everyone else. UPM's own admission calendar for students with foreign educational systems runs later than the general national calendar; for entry in 2026-27 this window ran from 5 June to 6 July 2026, with admitted students published on 10 July 2026. For master's degrees, a non-EHEA bachelor's degree is assessed by UPM for equivalent academic level, and every UPM bachelor graduate, along with any new external student joining a master's in Architecture, must accredit English at CEFR B2 before finishing their studies, following guidelines set nationally by CRUE, the conference of Spanish university rectors; UPM recognises IELTS 5.5 or higher and TOEFL iBT 72 or higher automatically, or a student can sit UPM's own internal B2 exam. Tuition is charged per ECTS credit under the price decree the Community of Madrid issues each year, and non-resident foreign students (excluding EU/EEA and Moroccan nationals) pay the top bracket: UPM's own published master's rates for 2026-27 are EUR 84.07 a credit for general (non-regulated) master's degrees, about EUR 5,044 for a 60-credit year, rising to EUR 154.80 a credit for engineering and teacher-training master's degrees, about EUR 9,288 for a 60-credit year.
