Södertörn University admits international freemover students through Sweden's University Admissions portal. The first admission round for the autumn semester opens in mid-October and closes in mid-January, and the university warns that non-EU/EEA students who need a residence permit will not have enough time to get one if they apply in the second round. Applicants from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland pay a SEK 900 application fee, the same at all Swedish institutions. International master's programmes such as Economics require English 6 or English level 2, or equivalent. Tuition is set by the programme's discipline: for the 2026/2027 academic year it ranges from SEK 108,000 to SEK 162,000, and University Admissions lists the amount for each programme. Students who apply for a one or two-year master's programme with Södertörn ranked as their first choice can apply for the Södertörn University tuition fee waiver, which covers 90% of tuition; students still pay the remaining 10% and their own living costs. Applications for scholarships for 2027/2028 open in autumn 2026, and applicants hear the result in April.
