Admission at a glance
Sciences Po, formally the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, is a public grand etablissement teaching political science, international affairs, law, economics, communication and public policy, known for admitting students through its own selective process rather than the general Parcoursup or eCandidat platforms most public universities use.
Graduate (master's) admission runs as a two-stage process, an admissibility stage followed by an admission stage, through Sciences Po's own portal. For the 2027 intake, the university states that admissions open at the end of September 2026, with a virtual Graduate Open House held on 17 October 2026; exact deadlines are set per programme rather than as one university-wide date. Required documents include a completed application form, academic references, a motivation letter in the language of the target programme, and language test scores where the programme requires them; the fixed application fee is EUR 150 across undergraduate, graduate and doctoral tracks.
On fees, Sciences Po does not use the government's differentiated non-EU rate that applies at ordinary public universities; instead it sets its own fixed tuition for students whose parents' tax residence is outside the European Economic Area: EUR 14,900 a year at undergraduate level and EUR 20,640 at graduate level, for a first enrolment in September 2026 (the 2026-2027 figures). French and EU students, by contrast, pay a fee calculated on household income, and the university states that about one in three students overall pays no tuition at all under that income-based scale; the fixed non-EU rate does not use that scale.
On English, Sciences Po does not publish one flat test minimum: some programmes waive the test for applicants with at least two years of English-medium study or an English-medium high-school diploma, and for programmes with no set entry-level requirement, students must still reach C1 English by graduation.

Requirements
Bachelor's (undergraduate college)
A secondary diploma; Sciences Po runs its own undergraduate selection process rather than Parcoursup for international applicants. Language requirement depends on the target campus and track.
Master's (graduate)
A bachelor's degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) from a non-French institution, or the French equivalent. Two-stage selection: admissibility, then admission. Language test requirement depends on the specific master's programme; some are waived for applicants with prior English-medium study.
