Admission at a glance

Politecnico di Milano admits international students to its Laurea (bachelor's) and Laurea Magistrale (master's) programmes through a dedicated online application for applicants with a foreign qualification. Master's applicants need a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent first-level qualification, in a field relevant to the chosen programme, and the university evaluates each application against a minimum GPA benchmark set for the specific programme. English-taught programmes ask for a B2-level certificate, most commonly IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 78, unless the applicant is exempt because a previous degree was taught in English. The university runs its admission calls in rounds tied to each programme area: Architecture and Design programmes and Engineering programmes each publish their own opening and closing dates, with an additional call reserved for EEA students and non-EEA residents already living in Italy, and a second-semester call for programmes that admit students in February. Once accepted, non-EU applicants requiring a visa complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment procedure before applying for their study visa. Tuition is calculated on the ISEE system: students with the lowest declared income pay only the fixed instalment of EUR 157.04, rising to a published maximum of EUR 3,943.04 a year for a full course load, with the second instalment proportional to the number of credits in the study plan.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification giving access to university study, plus, for some engineering and architecture programmes, an entrance test (TOL or equivalent). English-taught programmes ask for B2-level English.

Master

A bachelor's degree, or equivalent first-level qualification, in a field relevant to the chosen Laurea Magistrale, meeting a minimum GPA benchmark set by the programme. English-taught programmes ask for B2-level English, normally IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 78, unless exempt.
