Admission at a glance
Istanbul Technical University admits international undergraduates through a separate quota run by the Registrar's Office, not through the domestic placement exam. Applications are made online, and the university publishes a fixed minimum for every qualification it accepts: SAT 1 at 1200 out of 1600 with at least 650 in Maths, ACT at 26 out of 36, the International Baccalaureate at 30 out of 45, TR-YOS at 400 out of 500, the German Abitur or Austrian Matura at grade 1 or 2, and the Chinese Gaokao at 450 out of 750. GCE A Level applicants need three subjects, one of them Mathematics or Physics at grade A and the other two at grade C or better. Advanced Placement applicants need three exams, one in Mathematics, Computer Science or a basic science at grade 5 and the other two at grade 4. Applicants upload a high school diploma, an official transcript, the exam result, a passport copy and, for the Textile Development and Marketing programme, a statement of purpose; documents in a language other than Turkish or English must be accompanied by a translation. A candidate may list up to three programme choices, and faculties evaluate the applications after the window closes. The 2026-2027 cycle ran in two rounds, the first from 18 May to 17 July 2026 and a second from 21 to 26 August 2026.
