Admission at a glance

Bilkent University was Turkiye's first private foundation university and admits international students on a foundation university basis rather than through the state placement quota. Applicants need a completed high school diploma or equivalent, and accepted qualifications include SAT scores, GCE Advanced Level or Cambridge International A Level results, International Baccalaureate diplomas, and International Science Olympiad medals; the university states plainly that applications built on predicted grades, results or scores are not evaluated, so a candidate needs a final result in hand. Graduate applicants add academic transcripts, letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose. English proficiency is assessed through TOEFL iBT (minimum 87), IELTS Academic (minimum 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in every section), or Bilkent's own Proficiency in Academic English (PAE) exam, sat after arrival for applicants without an accepted external score; external results must still be within two years of the test date at the time of registration. Students who do not clear the English requirement through any of these three routes join the English Language Preparatory Program before starting their subject courses. Tuition, unlike at Turkiye's public universities, is set by Bilkent itself and rises by the year an applicant is admitted rather than staying fixed for every cohort: the 2026-2027 academic year charges USD 16,300 a year for students admitted before 2023 up to USD 18,400 a year for students admitted in 2026, including 10 percent VAT, paid in two equal instalments before each semester. Bilkent also runs its own partial and full tuition waiver scholarships awarded on high school grades and exam scores, reducing the cost for many admitted students below the published rate. Undergraduate applications for the 2026-2027 academic year Fall semester were open between 2 February and 12 July 2026.
