Admission at a glance

Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMFCD) in Bucharest runs its international admission through a dedicated International Students Service, separate from the Romanian national baccalaureate-based competition used by most domestic applicants. Two non-EU applicant groups are recognised: "Romanians from Everywhere" (Romanian-origin candidates living abroad) and citizens of countries outside the EU, EEA and Swiss Confederation who apply as fee-paying international students in foreign currency. Both groups, together with EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, can apply to Medicine and Dentistry taught in English, or Pharmacy taught in French; separate Romanian-taught tracks in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy exist for Romanians from Everywhere and non-EU citizens who prefer to study in Romanian.

Admission for the English and French-taught tracks is based on an online registration, submission of a personal file, and a compulsory 15 to 30 minute online interview conducted in English, drawing on a published list of scientific topics, rather than a written entrance exam. Candidates are ranked by a faculty evaluation grid combining interview performance and prior school results. Applicants must hold a high-school diploma recognised by the Romanian Ministry of Education, prove at least CEFR B2 competence in the language of instruction (or sit the university's own paid language test), and pay a non-refundable competition registration fee. The university runs its admission competition over at least two scheduled sessions per intake, and in the 2026-2027 cycle both sessions, plus extensions to some deadlines, were published and later closed; the university's Senate sets the seat quota each year, with 300 seats for the Faculty of Medicine and 72 for the Faculty of Dentistry in the English-taught programmes for the 2026-2027 academic year. Non-EU citizens who are admitted must obtain a Letter of Acceptance from Romania's Ministry of Education before they can apply for their Romanian student visa, and must pay their tuition in full before that visa can be issued.

Requirements

Bachelor (integrated Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy programmes)

• A high-school diploma from an accredited school in the country of origin, valid for university admission there and recognised by the Romanian Ministry of Education.
• For English or French-taught programmes: proof of CEFR B2 language competence via a recognised certificate (no older than 2 years), a school-leaving certificate confirming secondary education was completed in that language, a qualifying baccalaureate grade, or the university's own paid language test.
• Online registration and file submission through the university's admission platform (fsa.umfcd.ro) within the announced session dates; documents sent by post, courier or email are not accepted.
• A compulsory online interview (15-30 minutes), conducted in English for the English-taught track, based on the published scientific topics for the admission interview.
• Payment of the non-refundable competition registration fee.
• For non-EU citizens: a valid passport, and, after admission, a Letter of Acceptance issued by Romania's Ministry of Education and a Type D study visa obtained from a Romanian embassy before enrolment; full first-year tuition must be...
