Study in Lithuania: Admission, Cost, Visa and Scholarships (2027)

Lithuania's universities charge students from outside the EU from EUR 3,250 a year for a social science bachelor's to around EUR 6,500 for an engineering master's, with medicine and dentistry at EUR 14,100 to EUR 15,000. Applications close between 1 May and 15 June for non-EU applicants, each university charges a EUR 100 application fee, and graduates can stay up to 15 months to look for work.

Lithuania teaches a wide range of degrees in English, and three universities account for much of it: Vilnius University, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). Between them they teach business, economics, political science, computing, engineering, architecture and design in English at bachelor's and master's level, and Vilnius University also teaches medicine and dentistry in English. There is one intake a year, in September, with applications made to each university directly.

Fees for non-EU students are set by field of study. At KTU a non-EU bachelor's student pays EUR 3,250 a year in business, economics, political science and communication and EUR 4,201 in engineering, informatics and the sciences; masters cost EUR 4,690 and EUR 5,641. VILNIUS TECH charges EUR 3,950 for business and EUR 4,950 for engineering and IT bachelor's programmes, and EUR 5,450 and EUR 6,450 for masters, with Architecture at EUR 6,250. Vilnius University's English-taught bachelor's degrees cost EUR 3,250 to EUR 6,000, its masters mostly EUR 4,400 to EUR 6,550, Medicine EUR 14,100 and Dentistry EUR 15,000.

Deadlines for non-EU applicants come in late spring. For autumn 2026 KTU closed on 1 June, Vilnius University on 1 May and VILNIUS TECH on 15 June, with applications opening from mid October. Every university charges a EUR 100 application fee. Lithuanian universities also ask some applicants for more than a diploma: VILNIUS TECH requires applicants from secondary or vocational schools in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal to take the OMPT mathematics test, KTU requires it for some qualifications, and KTU limits non-EU bachelor's applicants to three years after leaving secondary school.

English requirements are lower than in Western Europe and vary by level. VILNIUS TECH asks for IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 70 and accepts Duolingo at 95. KTU asks for IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 75 for a bachelor's and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 85 for a master's. Vilnius University asks for IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 81 or Duolingo 120.

A student from outside the EU studying full time applies for a temporary residence permit through the Migration Department after the university files an invitation. The Study in Lithuania centre says graduates can stay up to 15 months to look for work: a three-month extension from the end of studies and then a twelve-month permit for job search.
