Vrije Universiteit Brussel Scholarships 2027

Vrije Universiteit Brussel, established in its own right in 1970, has 24,695 students, more than 6,000 of them from abroad, on campuses in Brussels. Non-EEA students pay EUR 4,800 to EUR 5,720 a year for an English-taught bachelor's and EUR 2,500 to EUR 5,720 for a master's in 2026-27. Applicants with a foreign diploma pay a EUR 90 application fee, and the non-EEA deadline was 31 March in the last cycle.

Most scholarships listed on VUB's pages are funded by others. Master Mind, from the Flemish government, pays EUR 10,020 a year with tuition reduced to the Flemish grant holder rate, and VUB's deadline for 2026-27 was 26 March 2026, with a higher English bar of TOEFL 94, IELTS 7.0 or Cambridge C1 at 185. The EU-funded PHORTIFY scholarship for the Photonics Engineering master pays EUR 12,000 to non-EU students, with a 2026 deadline of 3 April. VLIR-UOS supports international master's programmes for students from Africa, Asia and Latin America. VUB's own awards are small: the Master in Linguistics and Literary Studies offered three EUR 3,000 scholarships to non-EEA first-time applicants for 2026-27, with a 31 May deadline, and the Caroline Pauwels Emergency Fund gives up to EUR 2,000 to students in unforeseen financial difficulty.
