Vrije Universiteit Brussel Admission Requirements 2027

Vrije Universiteit Brussel, established in its own right in 1970, has 24,695 students, more than 6,000 of them from abroad, on campuses in Brussels. Non-EEA students pay EUR 4,800 to EUR 5,720 a year for an English-taught bachelor's and EUR 2,500 to EUR 5,720 for a master's in 2026-27. Applicants with a foreign diploma pay a EUR 90 application fee, and the non-EEA deadline was 31 March in the last cycle.

English test waiver

VUB requires English at CEFR B2 for its English-taught programmes. It accepts IELTS Academic, including One Skill Retake, at 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each component; TOEFL iBT, including the Home Edition, at 79 overall with at least 18 in each component for tests before 21 January 2026, or 4.5 overall with at least 4 in each component after that date, and not MyBest scores; ITACE at B2 in at least four of its five components; and Cambridge B2 First with at least 170. A certificate may not be more than five years old at first enrolment. The test is not needed with a secondary or higher education diploma where English was the only language of instruction, or with secondary education completed in Belgium's Flemish, French or German-speaking Community. Faculties may set a higher level for a programme, and the person responsible for a programme may grant exceptions on an overall assessment.
