Scholarships to Study in Belgium (2027)

Belgian universities fund few scholarships of their own, and two of them say so outright. UCLouvain states that it does not grant scholarships to international bachelor's or master's students, and the University of Antwerp that it does not offer fully funded scholarships.

The main government-funded awards are these. Master Mind is funded by the Flemish Ministry of Education for outstanding international master's students at Flemish institutions, with a living allowance of about EUR 10,000 a year and a tuition fee reduced to the level paid by Flemish grant holders; only around 30 are awarded across all of Flanders, and each university applies on the student's behalf with its own earlier deadline. Universities quote the amount slightly differently, EUR 10,020 at Antwerp and EUR 10,225 at KU Leuven. VLIR-UOS scholarships are funded through Flemish development cooperation for students from 29 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America on specific international master's programmes. In the French-speaking Community, Wallonia-Brussels International offers MASTER IN grants of EUR 10,020 paid over twelve months, with health insurance covered and an exemption from the Immigration Office fee; the 2026-27 deadline was 31 March 2026.

University-funded awards are smaller in number. KU Leuven's International Scholarship Fund pays one Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship of EUR 13,200 a year plus a full fee waiver, and single regional scholarships for Africa, ASEAN countries and Central and South America, each a fee waiver plus a one-off EUR 4,000. Several KU Leuven faculties cut the non-EEA fee to EUR 3,252.72. The University of Antwerp's High Potential Incentive reduces the master's fee from EUR 7,800 to EUR 4,300 for selected students without a separate application, and Ghent's Faculty of Political and Social Sciences waives its higher fee for students from 38 listed countries.
