Admission at a glance

All three of WU's bachelor's programmes, Business and Economics (BBE, English-taught), Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WISO) and Business Law (WIRE), admit through a selection procedure held once a year in spring, open equally to EU and non-EU/EEA applicants on the same dates. For the 2026/27 intake, registration ran from 2 March to 19 May 2026, followed by an online self-assessment test and, for some programmes, exam preparation days in late June before the entrance exam; the 2027/28 selection procedure dates were not yet published at the time of this research. Every applicant pays a EUR 50 registration fee per programme, non-refundable even on failing the selection procedure, though successful applicants get a welcome voucher worth that amount; the fee is stated to apply to all applicants, EU and non-EU/EEA alike. Applicants must submit proof of English at B2 for BBE; failing to upload a language certificate in the online tool leads to automatic rejection. Master's programmes admit on their own schedule with several rounds per intake; for the winter 2027/28 intake, one master's programme listed three deadlines: 8 October 2026, 8 January 2027 and 8 March 2027. English-taught master's programmes generally ask for C1 level English, meaning IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 100. Non-EU/non-EEA students pay tuition of EUR 726.72 a semester from their first semester, the same national rate charged at other Austrian public universities, plus the ÖH union fee.

Requirements

Bachelor

A general university entrance qualification, plus registration for and completion of WU's selection procedure (self-assessment test and, depending on the programme, an entrance exam), open on the same dates and terms to EU and non-EU/EEA applicants. The English-taught BBE programme needs English at B2; the German-taught WISO and WIRE programmes need German. A EUR 50 registration fee applies per programme.

Master

A completed bachelor's degree recognised as giving entry to the field, submitted within the programme's own application round; several master's programmes run multiple deadlines across an intake cycle. English-taught programmes need English at C1 (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100).

PhD

A completed master's degree or equivalent and admission to a doctoral programme; requirements are set at the programme level.
