WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is Austria's largest specialised business university and one of the largest in Europe, running bachelor's programmes with a competitive selection procedure and a wide range of English-taught master's programmes. Requirements

Bachelor

A general university entrance qualification, plus registration for and completion of WU's selection procedure (self-assessment test and, depending on the programme, an entrance exam), open on the same dates and terms to EU and non-EU/EEA applicants. The English-taught BBE programme needs English at B2; the German-taught WISO and WIRE programmes need German. A EUR 50 registration fee applies per programme.

Master

A completed bachelor's degree recognised as giving entry to the field, submitted within the programme's own application round; several master's programmes run multiple deadlines across an intake cycle. English-taught programmes need English at C1 (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100).

PhD

A completed master's degree or equivalent and admission to a doctoral programme; requirements are set at the programme level.

Documents

General university entrance qualification / prior degree certificate and transcript. Language certificate matching the programme (English for English-taught programmes, German for German-taught programmes), uploaded in the online application tool; a missing certificate leads to automatic rejection. Passport copy. Registration fee payment confirmation.

How to apply

  1. Choose your programme and check whether it is English or German taught.
  2. Register online for the bachelor's selection procedure within the published window, or apply within your chosen master's programme's application round.
  3. Pay the EUR 50 registration fee (bachelor's) and upload your language certificate.
  4. Complete the online self-assessment test and, where required, attend exam preparation days and sit the entrance exam (bachelor's).
  5. Receive the admission decision and enrol, paying the tuition fee where it applies and the ÖH union fee each semester.

English test waiver

The EUR 50 registration fee and IELTS/TOEFL figures recorded here are for the bachelor's selection procedure fee and the master's programme English requirement respectively; master's programmes ask for C1 level English (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100, or before 21 January 2026 the same 100 iBT score), while the English-taught bachelor's programme (BBE) asks for B2 without a specific test score confirmed on the pages reached in this pass. A master's-specific application fee may differ from the bachelor's EUR 50 figure but was not independently confirmed on an official page in this pass.
