Admission at a glance

International undergraduate applicants to the University of Sydney apply either directly through the university's own portal or through an authorised education agent; there is no separate national admissions centre step for most international applicants. An application requires evidence of academic qualifications equivalent to the required entry standard for the course, evidence of English language proficiency, and a non-refundable processing fee that, once paid, covers every application made within the same year across up to two semesters. Some courses ask for extra material such as a personal statement, portfolio or interview, and documents not already in English must be translated by a recognised translator. Students who are short of the academic or English requirement can apply through a recognised pathway or foundation program instead of direct entry. Once an offer is made, unconditional offers are accepted online and conditional offers only after the stated condition, usually a final result or an English test, is met and verified. After acceptance, the university requires the student to arrange Overseas Student Health Cover before enrolling and to pay first semester fees by the published payment date before lodging a student visa application. International tuition is charged per course of study rather than as one university-wide figure, and published 2026 entry rates for most undergraduate degrees fall between the low forties and low sixty thousands of Australian dollars a year depending on the field, with Nursing and Music at the lower end and Engineering, Computer Science and Health Sciences at the upper end.
