Federation University Australia admits international undergraduate applicants who have completed a recognised secondary education qualification and who meet the university's English language requirement, together with any prerequisite subjects the chosen course requires. Applicants pay a non-refundable AUD 25 application fee when they submit their application online, though this can be waived for applicants with an eVoucher from an education expo, existing Federation students, or those applying through an authorised Federation education agent. The standard English language benchmark for direct entry is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, or PTE Academic 50 overall with no communication skill below 50, for tests taken up to 22 April 2026; the university has published a second, differently scaled set of minimum scores for tests taken from 23 April 2026, reflecting changes to how those test providers report results. Federation publishes fixed international application cut-off dates for each semester rather than running a rolling process: for the Semester 1 2027 intake, starting 1 March 2027, offshore applicants must apply by 3 January 2027, provide genuine student documentation by 10 January 2027, and accept their offer with payment by 17 January 2027, while onshore applicants are given until 19 February 2027 to apply. Semester 2 2027 follows the same pattern, with an offshore application deadline of 30 May 2027 for the July start. Tuition is charged as an annual fee that varies by course rather than one flat university-wide rate.
