Admission at a glance
The University of Wollongong assesses international undergraduate applicants on completed secondary education and course-specific entry requirements, which are published individually for each degree through the university's Course Finder tool rather than as one university-wide standard. Applicants apply directly to UOW online, selecting a course and campus, and submit academic transcripts together with evidence of English language proficiency; the general undergraduate benchmark is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, though several courses, including Communication and Media and Journalism, set higher scores. UOW does not publish one fixed international closing date across the board: the university's own guidance is to apply no later than four months before the intended intake, and it notes that some individual courses carry their own set closing dates, shown on the Course Finder page for that course. Tuition is charged per teaching session, UOW's own term for a semester-length study period, rather than as one flat annual figure; the 2027 International Commencing Student Tuition Fee Schedule, published in July 2026, lists undergraduate commencing session fees from AUD 17,832 to AUD 25,512 depending on the course, and a full year of full-time study normally covers two sessions. All bachelor's degree students also pay the compulsory Student Services and Amenities Fee on top of tuition. Successful applicants receive a conditional or unconditional offer, accept it and pay the required deposit, then arrange Overseas Student Health Cover and a student visa before enrolment.
