Admission at a glance
QUT accepts direct international undergraduate applications throughout the year for most courses rather than working to one fixed closing date; the university's own international-applying page states "applications are open all year" and advises applying as soon as possible because the application and student visa processes take time, while a limited number of courses set their own open and close dates. Applicants must demonstrate academic qualifications comparable to Australian Year 12 and English language proficiency, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no sub-score below 6.0, or the accepted equivalent of TOEFL iBT 79 or PTE Academic 58; students who do not yet meet this can complete QUT's English for Academic Purposes program, where an overall score of 65 percent allows progression into a QUT undergraduate or postgraduate course requiring IELTS 6.5. A non-refundable AUD 100 application fee applies to every application submitted through the QUT Application Portal. Some international applicants instead use the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), which runs its own separate calendar with a main round closing 30 September 2026 for Semester 1, 2027 and further extension rounds into January 2027; this QTAC pathway is distinct from QUT's own rolling direct-application process and is more commonly used by applicants completing Australian Year 12 in Queensland. Tuition fees vary by course, level and field of study; QUT directs applicants to each course's own page for an indicative annual fee, and its 2027 International Quick Guide lists a "fees per year" figure for every single bachelor's degree, running from AUD 40,800 (Bachelor of Mathematics) to AUD 59,500 (Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science).
