University of Milan Admission 2027: Deadlines, Fees, Requirements

The University of Milan (Statale) enrols non-EU applicants living abroad through its own online procedure alongside the Ministry's Universitaly portal. For the 2026/27 cycle, applications to open-admission master's programmes opened on 22 January 2026, with 30 April 2026 set as the deadline for non-EU applicants residing outside Italy who need a study visa; Universitaly pre-enrolment itself was due by 31 July 2026, and the university advises applying on Universitaly only after receiving the official admission email. Other programmes run their own timetables between roughly July and October. All students, EU and non-EU, pay a first instalment of EUR 146 on enrolment, made up of EUR 130 regional tax for the right to higher education and EUR 16 stamp duty; the exact regional tax can vary with the student's country of origin. A second instalment then applies, calculated from the student's University ISEE (or an equivalent for those without an Italian ISEE), the degree programme's fee category, and the number of credits earned; degree programmes are split into two tuition areas that affect this second instalment differently for non-EU applicants. The university's fees pages, read at verification, described this mechanism without giving a single non-EU total, so this record leaves the tuition fields blank rather than estimate a figure. English-taught programmes require B2-level proficiency; applicants without a certificate take a placement test after enrolling.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study in Italy.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification relevant to the chosen programme. Programmes taught in English require B2-level English; IELTS and TOEFL are accepted among other certificates, though no fixed minimum score is published university-wide.
