University of Milan Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Milan, known as Statale, is one of Italy's largest public universities. Its fees for bachelor's and master's programmes combine a fixed regional tax and stamp duty of EUR 146 with a second instalment that varies by ISEE, tuition area and degree programme; the official fees pages did not state a single non-EU figure at verification.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study in Italy.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification relevant to the chosen programme. Programmes taught in English require B2-level English; IELTS and TOEFL are accepted among other certificates, though no fixed minimum score is published university-wide.

Documents

Passport, secondary school or degree certificate and transcripts, a Declaration of Value or equivalent comparability statement for the foreign qualification, a passport photo, and where applicable a University ISEE or the notional equivalent used for applicants resident abroad.

How to apply

Apply through the University of Milan's own online enrolment procedure for the chosen programme.
Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a study visa register separately on the Universitaly portal, ideally after receiving the university's admission email.
Pay the first instalment of EUR 146 (regional tax and stamp duty) to confirm enrolment.
Take the Universitaly pre-enrolment confirmation to the Italian embassy or consulate to apply for the study visa.
Pay the second, ISEE-linked instalment once it is calculated.

English test waiver

The university requires B2-level English for programmes taught in English and accepts IELTS and TOEFL among other certificates, but no fixed minimum score is published for general admission. Students without a valid certificate sit the university's own placement test in their first year, between October and December or January.
