The University of Latvia admits international degree students once a year for September, and its deadlines depend on the applicant's citizenship. For the September 2026 intake, citizens of countries that require additional assessment had to submit applications by 1 May 2026, citizens of non-EU countries that require a visa by 21 June 2026, and citizens of visa-free non-EU countries by 16 August 2026, the same date as EU applicants and applicants to Medicine and Dentistry from those countries. Applications opened on 1 December 2025 or 1 January 2026 depending on the programme, and the 2027 dates had not been published when this page was checked. After uploading all required documents and submitting the application, the applicant receives an invoice for the EUR 170 application fee, which is not refunded and does not guarantee acceptance. English is required at IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80 or PTE Academic 55, with higher scores for the English Studies master's, and Duolingo is not accepted. State-funded places, with a 5 July deadline, are open only to EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, EU long-term residents and some Ukrainian applicants, so non-EU applicants study on fee-paying places.
